"Wasted alright!"
I caught up with a friend of mine for a coffee. We were chatting about the songs I have written and the concert that I have proposed ("Trigger's Kid Gig"). He then began to talk about "The Voice" television series and asked me what I thought of some of the people in it. I asked him what "The Voice" was!!!! See, it's been 3 years since I have seen any television with the exception of a few footy games down at the local club. He had a good laugh realising that tents don't have power points!
When I was a Corporate Busyness Man, I had the whole Foxtel shebang and when I got home after a very busy day at the office, I loved nothing better than ordering take away and watching 4 or 5 hours of films, sport, CI, before going to bed and doing it all again the next day.
Funneeee you know. If I didn't hit the skids I have no doubt I would be doing the same thing.
The knowledge I have gained in those three years has changed my life. My journey back is well under way and I have been blessed with the OPPORTUNITY to re-invent myself. In the process I have found Mister SomeOne Out-There and been given gifts for my journey forward. The time I have been GIVEN in La Chateau Tento, I have been able to use, not only to accumulate the knowledge which I have, but to do what I want to do, and which I now know is my calling, and that is to CREATE. In fact if you work on the hours I used to spend watching tele, I have in fact used about 5000 hours, of 'WASTED' tele time to better myself, along with thousands of other more productive hours. I can guarantee that when I make it back I will watch very little, if any television. I have no interest. Reading and thinking are far more interesting pastimes!
In my book I talked about the number of hours, heartbeats and breaths in our lives. A few days ago I blogged about the 'BLINK' of life. Unfortunately television has become the 'norm' for after work 'relax max' time. I am terribly sad about it and I will be using DotsHQ to help get all of weee dots to 'kick' the habit. Television will never give meaning to your one and only 'blink' of a life. Pick up a book and learn something for a change, and CHANGE is the appropriate word. Start giving your life some meaning. Try THINKING rather than WATCHING. Don't wait for the rock bottom to happen, like ME.....
....DON'T GET WASTED....like me!
